Northborough – New Firefighter/Paramedic James Kelly was introduced to the Board of Selectmen at their Dec. 16 meeting. Kelly was accompanied by his family and many of his fellow firefighters who were there to support him as he was sworn in by Fire Chief David Parenti.
Kelly is a 1995 graduate of Maynard High School. He went to Quinsigamond Community College for his paramedic certification. He was most recently a per diem firefighter with the Stow Fire Department.
“I spoke with Chief Landry over there who gave him an incredibly high recommendation and said ‘He’s a great guy, you’ll love him,’” noted Parenti, adding that they are very excited to have Kelly aboard. He has already completed his two week orientation and will be attending the Fire Academy next summer.
Board Chair Jason Perreault and Selectman Leslie Rutan welcomed him to the department.
“I think you’ll really enjoy being here very much; it’s wonderful and you have a wonderful background,” remarked Rutan.
Kelly was then sworn in, followed by a ceremonial pinning conducted by his father Douglas Kelly.
