Northborough – Richard A. Robbins, Jr., 73, of Northborough, formerly a longtime resident of Natick, passed away December 17, 2021, after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Joan Leslie Robbins.
Born and raised in Natick, Richard was the son of the late Richard A. and Ellen Mahan Robbins. He was a 1966 graduate of Natick High School prior to studying aviation mechanics at Wentworth Technical Institute. With a strong sense of patriotism Richard proudly enlisted and honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Richard was employed for over 30 years by the United States Postal Service. He was a talented finish carpenter and “jack-of-trades” handyman who frequently offered assistance to his friends and family. Along with Joan, Richard enjoyed spending time at his vacation home in Ft. Myers, Florida and sailing.
Richard was admired for his loyalty to his family and friends, his sincerely held beliefs and his dry and ready sense of humor.
In addition to his wife Joan, Richard is survived by Bryan P. O’Sullivan, his wife Lisa of Hudson and their children. Richard also leaves his five siblings, Kathleen Maloblocki and her husband Greg of Marblehead, Peter Robbins and his wife Martha Curran of Harwich, John Robbins of Harwich, Martha Murray of Franklin and David Robbins and his wife Porschez of Framingham; his sister-in-law Mary Miscia of Millbury, and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. A calling hour has been scheduled prior to the service, from 1 -2 p.m. The use of masks while attending inside services is requested.
Richard’s family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be sent in memory of Richard Robbins to: Brookhaven Hospice, 114 Turnpike Road, Westborough, MA 01581.
