REGION – Need to get rid of a Christmas tree?

Area Boy Scout troops are planning a number of Christmas tree pickup drives over the next three weeks, collecting trees to support the community and to help fundraise for troop activities.

Read on for a roundup of local collection drives…

Northborough

Northborough Troop 101 will make its rounds on Jan. 8.

Northborough residents must sign up before Jan. 7 to be added to the pickup route. They then must leave their tree near their curb before 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 8.

The $10 cost per-tree will help fund troop activities.

Individuals can sign up online or by calling the Troop at 508-281-9972. Those with questions can also reach out by email to Nborotroop101Treepickup@gmail.com.

Southborough

Southborough Troop 1 will haul away trees on Jan. 8 at a cost of $12 per tree.

Tree pickup is free for veterans, police and fire personnel, and senior citizens.

Southborough residents must register by phone, email or text before 8 p.m. on Jan. 7. Individuals should provide their name, phone number and address in order to schedule a pickup.

Trees must be placed at the end of driveways by 9 a.m. on Jan. 8. Individuals should place their donation in a plastic bag clipped or taped to their tree.

“Thank you for supporting Southborough Scouting,” noted a flyer promoting this event.

Individuals should schedule their pickup by contacting graftonbsatroop107@gmail.com and providing their name, address, zip code, email and preferred pickup date.

Individuals should leave their tree outside by 8 a.m. on their pickup date with an attached donation in a plastic bag on the tree.
