Wet, windy weather sets off power outages in region

REGION – High winds and heavy rain are causing power outages through the region.

National Grid reports that as of 10 a.m. Monday, nearly 4,000 customers in the vicinity of Marlborough High School are without power. There’s also 2,000 customers along Route 20 and Elm Street are without power, along with more than 160 customers near Assabet Valley Regional Vocational High School.

In Westborough, nearly 300 customers in the vicinity of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church are in the dark.

There are also scattered outages in Northborough,

Southborough’s Recreation building is closed because of a power outage; online registration is still available. There are also 133 customers off Flanders Road in Southborough, are also without power.

In Grafton, about 50 National Grid customers near Glen Street and Chiswell Road are without power.

Westborough Police report downed branches and wires at Flanders Road between Fruit Street and Homestead Boulevard. More than 200 National Grid customers have been affected.

SELCO reports downed branches off Maple Avenue near Richards, and Harrington Avenue near Moulton, in Shrewsbury.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory and Flood Watch until 7 p.m. Monday.
