Northborough – Kevin Flaherty may call himself the “Chief Mojo Officer” at his company, Flaherty Physical Therapy, but make no mistake. Behind his lighthearted title is a strong commitment, based on over 20 years of professional experience, in helping his patients achieve their highest level of excellent health.

On the company’s website, it says, “To us, Mojo is a feeling, a sensation of well-being, strength and stability. Mojo is the feeling you get when you are in the groove, everything is perfect, everything feels good, all is right, your stars are aligned.”

“That’s our goal. We want to help you to feel better and restore your mojo, one exercise at a time,” Flaherty stressed.

Flaherty Physical Therapy is located at 411 W. Main St., #3, Northborough. Walking in, one is immediately greeted by the warm and friendly front desk staff. Unlike many cold, medicinal-type offices, Flaherty PT’s main treatment room is painted in warm and soothing colors (thanks to the design sense of Flaherty’s wife, Kim), giving it a comfortable and friendly feel.

Throughout his 26 years of practice, Flaherty worked for several companies in central Mass. before opening his own business in December 2015. Certified in strength and conditioning, he has worked with many athletes both in his practice and as a youth coach.

Although the company bears his name, he is equally proud of his team and the experience and services they offer to their patients.

“We have a really great diverse, dynamic group of physical therapists here,” he said.

Elena Barresi, PT, MSPT, is a physical therapist and instructor who started her career in acute care orthopedics/trauma. She transitioned into outpatient orthopedics and has interests including post-operative cases, athletics, dance and functional training. She is also certified in STOTT Pilates.

Lisa Marchese, PT, DPT, is a physical therapist who has worked with post-surgical orthopedics, neurological patients, and amputees. At Flaherty PT she works with young athletes on wrist and hand injuries, and management of chronic pain. She has her Graston Certification.

Laura Turner, PT, DPT, is a physical therapist who has worked for 20 years in outpatient orthopedic care. She is passionate about strength training and enjoys utilizing kettlebells as a rehabilitation tool. She is currently working toward her Strong First Certification to become a kettlebell instructor and is a Certified Functional Strength Coach.

Maggie Smith is the director of First Impressions. She is a graduate of Castleton University in Vermont where she received her B.S. in health sciences in 2016.

At Flaherty PT, the team strives to help patients restore their quality of life and help them to get back to doing the things they enjoy.

“We know people are in pain when they first come to us,” Flaherty said. “They may also feel intimidated and scared. So we help them with a plan to get them to feel better overall.”

“For example, you could just come in because your shoulder hurts,” he added. “We will treat that but look also at what else is happening with you. That could mean helping you strengthen your core or balance or suggesting adding some cardio or other health and wellness ideas into your daily life.”

Flaherty PT works with patients of all ages, from young teens to those in their 90s. Services include: exercise training, manual therapy, orthotics, fall prevention, vertigo/vestibular training, TMJ pain, spine pain, post-surgery rehab, amputee rehab, and taping.

Flaherty also has two massage therapists who work in the practice several days a week.

“Life is too short to settle for not feeling your very best,” Flaherty said. “Give us a call and let us help you restore your Mojo to where it should be!”
