Northborough- Cub Scout packs 55 and 58 celebrated the final pack meeting of the 2012/2013 season at Fidrych Farm May 17. The meeting was hosted by the Fidrych family and included a bonfire, skits, and an award presentation.
On May 18, the packs visited Battleship Cove in Fall River to explore the world’s largest collection of naval ships. The group toured the battleship USS Massachusetts, destroyer USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., submarine USS Lionfish, PT boats, and the Russian missile corvette Hiddensee, then spent the night on board the USS Massachusetts.
Battleship Cove’s Nautical Nights program included a knot-tying class, living history presenters, and a
movie. The evening scavenger hunt was a true hit as scouts were able to explore details of the ship not normally seen by visitors.
Over 35 scouts and their families participated, led by Cubmaster Jim Ares. The trip enabled the scouts to better understand and appreciate the sacrifices made by veterans of all military branches.
